you know i will buy an old monitor and do the same looks fantastic
Linus spent 5000 dollars for this
I think it is a great idea but having a backwards side of the image would fly all over me.
Thanks for the video
I can see you
OLED…….
Moments that make me laugh every time I think about them:
15:39 “You’re a Harry, lizard!”
And
17:13 “That’s his killing leg!”
I didn't read all the comments. But, surely, this is just half the project. You still need light behind it, or the images on the screen would look dark. What if you lined the frame with led lights. But around the frame, and not covering the back. Other than that, I think it was a brilliant project. Ok, I found it. I read comments about lighting the image without covering the back. Still a great project. Hmmm…. I wonder if you try it on other types of monitors.
FRIENDS ZONED POOR MAN 🙂
That would have been an amazing start to an ARG. Opportunity. Missed.
Cringe
This looks awesome! I swear you guys always make me happier and cheer me up with your videos. Even in the worst days you guys just make me so joyful and make me feel good. Thank you for making these videos!
17:27 the green tongue shadow had me cracking somehow xDD
its nice but have you tried giving its own light source? obviously not a full backlight but as a fallback when there are no other light sources around
Please, make more and put them in the market!
evan gives off suburban dad vibes that’s like super mechanical and innovative and i just can’t wait for him and katelyn to become parents cause their kids are going to be brilliant
Всё равно нужна подсветка сзади. Если бы была торцевая подсветка, а-ля как в фильме аватар: прозрачные дисплеи, то да) А так фильм в тёмной комнате не посмотришь.
It would be so cool if you did another screen but touch screen
If you want to not have to use a background light you should use an OLED display
Just make it transparent and not the Video Thumbnail transparent
It’s a moistache
your problem still is the lighting it still incomplete you cant fool me so complete project with led lighting coming rom sides then test may have better completion …good but can do better
maybe an Aquarium background outside?
I think this with an aluminum frame, a glass track pad, keyboard, and glass desk PC with hidden wires would be an amazing aesthetic!
I think the first sheet was a scattering layer? Also this looks really cool!
So… the polarizing filter bit… Every LCD screen has not one, but two polarizing filters, one on each side of the LCD itself, and they are absolutely essential to the function of LCD displays. The jist of it is that first light hits the first polarizing filter, thus polarizing the light. Then it passes through the liquid crystal, which rotates the polarization of the light different amounts based on a voltage applied to it. Then that polarized light hits the second polarizing filter, which will block a percentage of the light based on how far the light's polarization is from the filter's polarization. If the light is perfectly aligned to the filter, more or less all the light will pass through, and if the light is aligned at 90 degrees to the filter, more or less all the light will be blocked. In an LCD monitor, this function is broken into tiny tiny sections and then combined with red, green, and blue filters to color the light, which are then grouped into your individual pixels. So in a 1080X720 LCD monitor, the monitor is controlling the voltage on roughly 2.3 million distinct sections of liquid crystal.
Anyway, the film you were pulling off was probably just an anti-glare filter.
Awesome asf I love it
Good luck to both of you .
hAh! I literally took apart that exact same monitor at work. I remember looking for the screws until I got frustrated and just ripped it apart.
